Smile

As I was hurrying out from the bathroom yesterday morning, getting ready for another exciting day, i was telling my 4 year old daughter who intently watching her bible stories on DVD to fix herself so she can be ready for breakfast. When she looked up at me I was all dressed up then she said, "you're going to school now mama?" Actually, the "school" she was referring to is the Tulay Program I'm joining in right now. She gave me a frown since she doesn't want to see me go. Comforting words are not enough to make her smile on that moment, what she said to me that morning pinched my heart, " I miss you mama". I realized that even an 8 hour absence can make a big impact to the ones you really cared about. How much more for those who spend most of their time away from their families and friends just to earn a living?
"This is life, it can never be absolutely happy, it can never be perfectly made...it's always have it's twist and turns, ups and downs as well. It will make you strong and have faith...Sometimes make you cry and suffer, but it will make you stand and learn, that no matter how difficult it is, there will always be many reasons to
SMILE".
                                                                         - Forwarded text message-

"A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give."  - Author Unknown

A smile is a sign of love
A smile is a sign of care
A smile tells how much to others
You are important and also dear

A smile is a sign of cheer
A smile is a sign of trust
A smile shows how you can
Be happy even in hard crust

A smile is a sign of joy
A smile is a sign of hope
A smile teaches you how you can
Remove the clouds of mope

For nothing but only a smile
Takes away your pain and trial
And pick your trouble's pile
And let you smile, smile and smile.

          15 Fascinating Facts About Smiling
  1. Forcing yourself to smile can boost your mood: Psychologists have found that even if you’re in bad mood, you can instantly lift your spirits by forcing yourself to smile.
  2. It boosts your immune system: Smiling really can improve your physical health, too. Your body is more relaxed when you smile, which contributes to good health and a stronger immune system.
  3. Smiles are contagious: It’s not just a saying: smiling really is contagious, scientists say. In a study conducted in Sweden, people had difficulty frowning when they looked at other subjects who were smiling, and their muscles twitched into smiles all on their own.
  4. Smiles Relieve Stress: Your body immediately releases endorphins when you smile, even when you force it. This sudden change in mood will help you feel better and release stress.
  5. It’s easier to smile than to frown: Scientists have discovered that your body has to work harder and use more muscles to frown than it does to smile.
  6. It’s a universal sign of happiness: While hand shakes, hugs, and bows all have varying meanings across cultures, smiling is known around the world and in all cultures as a sign of happiness and acceptance.
  7. We still smile at work: While we smile less at work than we do at home, 30% of subjects in a research study smiled five to 20 times a day, and 28% smiled over 20 times per day at the office.
  8. Smiles use from 5 to 53 facial muscles: Just smiling can require your body to use up to 53 muscles, but some smiles only use 5 muscle movements.
  9. Babies are born with the ability to smile: Babies learn a lot of behaviors and sounds from watching the people around them, but scientists believe that all babies are born with the ability, since even blind babies smile.
  10. Smiling helps you get promoted: Smiles make a person seem more attractive, sociable and confident, and people who smile more are more likely to get a promotion.
  11. Smiles are the most easily recognizable facial expression: People can recognize smiles from up to 300 feet away, making it the most easily recognizable facial expression.
  12. Women smile more than men: Generally, women smile more than men, but when they participate in similar work or social roles, they smile the same amount. This finding leads scientists to believe that gender roles are quite flexible. Boy babies, though, do smile less than girl babies, who also make more eye contact.
  13. Smiles are more attractive than makeup: A research study conducted by Orbit Complete discovered that 69% of people find women more attractive when they smile than when they are wearing makeup.

  15. Babies start smiling as newborns: Most doctors believe that real smiles occur when babies are awake at the age of four-to-six weeks, but babies start smiling in their sleep as soon as they’re born.

The "UNSINKABLE"

No other ship in the history of ocean travel has demanded as much interest as the Titanic. Volumes of books and reels of film have been produced regarding the most infamous shipwreck in history. We have attempted to provide here a brief introduction to some of the more fascinating facts, legends and myths regarding the sinking of the ship that was labeled 'unsinkable' before her disastrous maiden voyage in April of 1912.

April 15, 1912, The Sinking of the Titanic - When the Titanic embarked on her maiden voyage the world was filled with hope and awe. In just a few short days those emotions turned to horror and grief. The luxury liner struck an iceberg and sank. Even though they had enough lifeboats for about half of the people on board, many refused to get into them, hoping the giant ship would stay afloat.

Did you know...
...the largest lifeboat ever built took 120 years to construct? It was three stories high and had as much space as about 520 railroad cars! What's even more amazing is that only eight people choose to get on this lifeboat to save their lives... just eight people, along with thousands of animals! That lifeboat of course, was Noah's Ark!
...the lifeboat he built was the only way to be saved. God made a way of salvation for His people, and His angels protected the ark.
...the Bible says that in the last days, the world will be destroyed again.
...this time by a flood of fire! (2 Peter 3:6,7)

Does God have another lifeboat that can protect us like the ark?
Yes! JESUS is not only our lifeboat, He is our "life preserver" too!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16)

This is like the sacrifice God made for you! The Bible says,
"The Father Himself loves you" (John 16:27). He gave His Son, Jesus, to die for your sins so that you can be forgiven and saved. GOD'S LOVE IS AMAZING.
